ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago
University of Birmingham Triathlon have had a very successful race season this year, finished off in extreme style by an outstanding set of results from the ITU World Championships in Chicago – despite the challenging hot and humid conditions!

For the women, Samantha Rose achieved a fantastic bronze in the 25-29 AG for the standard distance world championships, while Alice Stratford (after only taking to triathlon in September 2014) finished 10th in the 18-19 age category!
Also in the standard distance race, Daniel Franks (after achieving 7th in the 20-24 AG ITU Aquathlon earlier in the week) achieved 33rd, and was closely followed by Kyran Edmunds, coming 61st and Sam Martin who secured 73rd!

On top of this, Chris Silver came 5th in his AG in the sprint distance – just missing out on 3rd position in the last 500m!
Earlier in the season, UoB triathlon also produced some brilliant results at the National Triathlon Relays with the two boys’ teams storming their way to 15th and 26th and the two mixed teams achieving 9th and 15th.
In addition to this, alumni Samantha Rose, Beccy Tipping and Becky Hair achieved 1st position!
Also throughout the summer we’ve seen numerous members participate in both local and international races.
Rhiannon Middleton and Kelton both participated in the British U’20s festival at Mallory Park, with Rhiannon making a terrific comeback from injury with 5th place!

On the 14th June, several members from UoB Tri competed in the Bristol Harbourside sprint.
Danielle Bogue, Tabby Rogers and Mr Rogers all completed the Cotswolds Triathlon, despite chilly early morning conditions, with a podium finish for Tabby – coming 2nd in the elite race!

UoB triathlon was also represented at the Geneva AG sprints by Tabby Rogers, Becky Hair and alumni Ellie Quarrington, with Tabby coming an impressive 11th in her age group and 6th in GB – following hard on the heels of Ellie who came 10th in her AG. In the Olympic distance, UoB triathlete Daniel Franks secured 11th in his AG while Luke Pollard won overall!
Alice Stratford and Elliott Packham participated in the Reading Triathlon, with Elliott coming 1st in his category and Alice stratford achieving 2nd in her age category!

Completing numerous international elite races throughout the race season, UoB triathlete Cybele Schneider has had a great summer with 20th in the Chatereaux Elite Sprint, part of the European Cup Series (pictured below on the left), 4th at the highly competitive Swiss Junior National Championships and 21st position at the Juniors European cup in Slovenia (pictured exiting the swim below on the left).
Other racers throughout the summer include Alice Dabbs who has completed several events including the BRAT club sprint where she achieved 6th female in the sprint and Alice Stratford winning 7th position in the Olympic distance. Rosie Davies also participated in this race and did an outstanding job coming 1st!
Tom Powell completed his first standard distance triathlon at the Leeds Olympic Triathlon, coming 1st in his AG and 17th overall, with George Schreuder racing that same weekend at the Cheltenham Super Sprint and achieving 5th position.

Altogether it has been a fantastic race season for UoB triathlon with so many members encouraging friends and family to join in on this fantastic sport!
